Following his residency, Dr. El Djouzi joined the Carolina Medical Center for an intensive two-year dual fellowship program. This unique training combined two specialized fields: minimally invasive, advanced abdominal surgery, and metabolic and bariatric surgery. During this period, he performed a myriad of surgeries, gaining invaluable experience and learning from numerous pioneers in the field of Surgery. This time was not only characterized by hands-on, immersive training but also by significant personal milestones. Amidst the demanding schedule and immense learning, Dr. El Djouzi welcomed the birth of his first twins, Rym and Hind, adding a profound personal dimension to this transformative phase of his professional life.

Upon returning to Chicago, a city he had left as a single man, Dr. El Djouzi's life had transformed remarkably. Now married and a father of three, he joined Loyola University Medical Center as a faculty member in bariatric surgery. This period was filled with academic enrichment, particularly in mentoring residents and students, alongside performing surgeries at an elite level. His return to Chicago also marked significant professional milestones: he became a fellow of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons and earned certification as a bariatric surgeon. His academic pursuits further expanded with a Master's degree in Advanced Surgical Endoscopy from the University of Strasbourg in France, and an Executive MBA from a prestigious School of Business.     • Be in good standing with the ASMBS for at least two years.

    • Currently practice in an American College of Surgeons (ACS) accredited center or a center that participates in an approved outcomes data reporting program, such as the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).

    The fellowship is granted for three years and can be renewed for additional three-year terms, contingent on continued participation in an approved outcomes data reporting program. The designation may be withdrawn if the member stops participating in the program or is found to have falsified data
